The three MC's that make the New York, Yonkers group LOX (stands for Living Off Xperience)
are Jadakiss (Jason Phillips), Styles (David Styles) and Sheek (Sean Jacobs). The group used be
called The Warlocks when they were first found by Ruff Ryders, but
their career started when Puff Daddy signed them to his record label
Bad Boy along with Ma\\$e and The Notorious B.I.G., however the LOX have
since broken away from Bad Boy and are now officially Ruff Ryders following
a 'Let The LOX Go' campaign where fans were walking around with the slogan on t-shirts.
The first time the LOX were heard was back in '97 when Jay, Sheek and Styles
released the heart felt track 'We'll Always Love Big Poppa' a tribute song to the
deceased Biggie Smalls aka Christopher Wallace. This was shortly after the Puff Daddy,
Faith Evans and 112 tribute song 'I'll Be Missing You' shot up the charts. Also tracks
Livin' The Life', 'If You Think I'm Jiggy', 'All About The Benjamins' and Black Rob's
Can I Live' helped LOX to be noticed in Hip Hop. The title track to the up coming album
was 'Money, Power & Respect', this is where people first heard DMX, the four Yonkers rappers
had people rushing to the stores for the LOX album.
This album was a huge success for a number of reasons, we first heard the three MC's we love
to this day (from Bad Boy's to Ruff Ryders), we heard DMX rhyme for the first time and we discovered
the first Swizz Beatz production 'All For The Love'.
After LOX were reunited with their Ruff Ryders crew it didnt take long for the new album to come out -
'We Are The Streets'. The most controversial track on the album is 'We Are The Streets' where LOX rap of
their hate for Puff Daddy, lyrics include Jadakiss' 'How you gonna dance when your neck get broke' and Styles'
'I got a thousand n*ggas like me and they feel like Suge'. There are solo tracks by Jadakiss 'Blood Pressure'
and Sheek 'Bring It On', a DJ Premier produced track 'Recognise' and Timberland produced chart topper 'Ryde Or Die,
Chick'.
